Need assistance with a project in your credit union and don't know whom you can trust?
Advisory Services and Consultation
Mainsail Trim provides advisory and consultation services to credit unions. There are more and more regulatory compliance and internal audits that need to be done both annually and biannually. Failure to comply is not an option for you. However not only does it take a lot of time to make sure your organization keeps up to date with the ever-changing compliance landscape, it also takes time to ensure that you do everything correctly in order to comply. As your Credit Union grows, the number of regulatory issues also become more complex.
Ongoing Risk Assessments
We work with management and officials to develop internal controls, and independently assess your operation’s risks according to your complexity and areas of operation, providing real world recommendations for process improvements.
Regulatory Compliance Reviews
Examiners expect a regular review, usually by an independent source of your compliance with a variety of regulations. Your size and complexity govern the frequency of these reviews.
Emergency / Temporary Management Assistance
Should you have a sudden loss of a key manager, we can help cover the absence by recommending skilled (often recently retired) management, until you can reasonably fill the position.
Review Any Change of Management
There are frequently bits of knowledge or relationships that are left missed when someone in managment leaves, and relationships with vendors that may be unaware of the change. We examine frequent areas including key controls, that need to be addressed with a key management change.
Sometimes a new operation or change in systems creates difficulties in developing a budget that is realistic. We have in the past worked with management teams to forecast a realistic budget moving forward, including modeling and forecasting for new operations.
Staff and officials need realistic planning and training in a variety of compliance areas, as well as financial competency. Frequently, new management and officials are left to fend for themselves, which your examiners and auditors find unacceptable.
From a viable budget, and review of controls after a change in management conversions to a new data processing system or control objectives.
We currently work with 50 credit unions ranging from $15 million to over $1 billion in assets.
